The smaller sister mountain to the taller and bulkier Mount Carrialoo next door. Still definitely worth a visit. Climbing is around a 3 hour return journey.
Driving directions
Just north of the bridge at Kangaroo Valley, turn west onto Bendeela Road. Follow this as it turns into Jacks Corner Road. There is a small dirt car park at the end of the road.
Directions to the summit
1. Walk north from the car park into the bush.
2. You will reach a steep hill. Start climbing it! After a while the terrain will level out into a narrow ridge. You might see a fire trail to your right. You can follow it briefly but soon you will have to leave it.
3. Here the hill gets a lot steeper and the vegetation gets thicker. Follow the middle of the spur. If you hit a cliff, traverse around to your left till you find a way up. Some scrambling is required here.
4. At the top of the scramble you will find the fire trail again and some kind of abandoned farm. There are various weeds and old trees growing here.
5. Turn east and begin the final climb up to the summit.
6. The summit is covered in trees. There are some glimpses of views in various directions. Continue on along the ridge for some more interesting sites. Return back the way you came.
